Cemented Beauty is a collaboration between Atelier Éditions and Jacob Jonas The Company.

Los Angeles-based choreographer Jacob Jonas has established himself as a visionary artist at the forefront of contemporary dance, known for his groundbreaking fusion of movement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community engagement. With performances at prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and the Hollywood Bowl, Jonas’s work pushes the boundaries of dance as both a physical and healing practice.

On November 17, 2022, at the age of 30, Jonas was diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a rare side effect of the Crohn’s medication he had taken intravenously for a decade. Facing a nine-in-10,000 chance, he tragically became the one.

Cemented Beauty is his raw and poetic memoir, inviting readers into a deeply personal account of his battle with cancer and return to health. Told through intimate journal entries and self-portraits, this book explores the complexities of life, death, and identity; an unflinching look at the physical and psychological impact of living with terminal illness and the mental and emotional turmoil that follows.

Cemented Beauty is a meditation on the human experience, an embrace of life’s darkest moments and an examination on the tension between vulnerability and strength, self-doubt and self-love, the desire to move forward and the need to rest in the present.
